Congress Avenue Bridge
This bridge is known as the summer hang-out of approximately 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats, making this the largest urban bat colony in North America. Not for the squeamish, it may take up to 45 minutes for all the bats to emerge from under the bridge to forage. Despite their creepy reputation, these bats consume between 10,000 and 30,000 pounds of insects a night.
